dawei

On the Tanintharyi Region coast, Dawei (formerly Tavoy) is a major trading town and one of the oldest ports In Myanmar. It is the centre of fishing and rubber trades, and is also home to the planned Dawei Special Economic Zone and an adjoining deepsea port. For now the town retains a quiet charm, with large, brightly decorated wooden homes and well-maintained colonial-era buildings. Barely 10 miles from Dawei is the village of Maungmagan, which offers stunning access to mostly deserted beaches all along the coast.
